This will be a 5-Hour Online Course.

The Nikon Z Mount Mirrorless system is a major introduction for Nikon, it's entree into the full-frame mirrorless market and these cameras did not disappoint.

The electronic viewfinders in the Z6II & Z7II bodies are comfortable and easy to get used to coming from the DSLR world, comparable to optical viewfinders. Both cameras are equipped with an approximately 3690k-dot OLED panel giving the electronic viewfinder 100% frame coverage. Menu can be displayed in the electronic viewfinder, letting you quickly adjust a variety of shooting settings, including ISO sensitivity, AF-area mode, and Picture Control, all while keeping your eye to the viewfinder. So too can you review the image you just captured in the viewfinder in all its glory in any light, bright or low--a real advantage with the electronic viewfinder.

The Z6II's 273 and Z7II's 493 af points provide incredibly fast AF. My D850 and D6 set the standard and these new cameras offer comparable AF performance and some distinct advantages, like eye-detect and game-changing 90 per cent AF point coverage within the frame.

If you're coming from a DSLR, you will find the AF area modes familiar with differences and we will cover in-depth how the various systems work for you to take maximum advantage. We also cover the new possibilities introduced with manual focus and focus peaking with the electronic viewfinder.

As far as megapixels, the Z6II @24 and the Z7II @45 megapixels maintain amazing resolution in a very small footprint. The Z6II has a slight edge in high ISO quality and frame rate and the Z7II allows you to make large resolute prints and find five-star images within the frame.  You can crop a portion of the picture, then enlarge and print with amazing quality.

Some of the unique-to -mirrorless features will change the way you shoot. The built-in Vibration Reduction (VR) brings image stabilization to all Nikon lenses. The dedicated S lenses have proven to be outstanding and the newly designed Z mount allows lens design without compromise, edge to edge sharpness wide open and enables Nikon engineers to built them smaller with no VR mechanism necessary.

You will lean to use the 3.2” touch tilt screen which lets you touch the area of the frame you want in focus and trigger the shutter at the same moment, silently, so you can capture stealthy images never before possible.

Steve covers everything from shooting modes to Auto ISO, white balance, metering choices, histograms, exposure compensation, file formats, image review and other shortcuts to customizing your Nikon Z Mount mirrorless cameras to your own unique shooting style. In our Zoom class, we set up important menu items together.

Steve will dive deep into autofocus and personalizing your Nikon Mirrorless cameras by customizing buttons & dials to program function buttons,  AF-ON (for back button AF) and the sub-selector button. The Z Mirrorless cameras are the most customizable bodies Nikon has ever manufactured.

Steve wants to insure you fully understand these concepts and the  positive impact they will have on your shooting process moving forward. You will learn about programming User Settings and set-up the very useful My Menu screen.
